Annapurna Circuit Trek [Premium]

Annapurna Circuit Trek (ACT) is one of the classic trails in Nepal scenery and cultural diversity. Annapurna circuit trek length is approximately 100-mile plus. It is circumnavigation of the Annapurna Range offering the best natural scenery and indigenous cultures of Nepal. The trail takes you along the Marsyangdi Valley up to the North of the main Himalayan range. The trail then crosses a 5,416 m pass to descend into the dramatic desert-like, Tibetan-style scenery of the upper Kali Gandaki Valley.

Diversity in the Terrain:

The route of ACT brings varying sights, from about 100 waterfalls to pine forests. This lush landscape changes to arid slopes with shrubs, scattered here and there, just as you reach Manang. Now, Manang is an interesting place. Cliffs on one side of the Marsyangdi River are forested, while on the other, these are almost barren. From Manang, the terrain becomes a bit rough as you are required to make a somewhat steep ascent across grasslands and past juniper trees. You could utilize your acclimatization day in Manang with a trek to a glacial lake nearby.

Trek to Muktinath

This trek also gives you the opportunity to trek to the sacred Muktinath Temple. Located in the Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass in Mustang, Nepal. It is one of the world's highest temples (altitude 3,800 m). The Muktinath temple is also considered to be one of the 108 Shakti Peetha.

Annapurna Range in full glory

The Annapurna Circuit trail is home to the Gurungs, Manangis, and Thakalis. It also offers spectacular mountain views of the numerous 7,000 m-plus Annapurna peaks and boasts some of the best trekking lodges in Nepal.

16-Days of Himalayan Bliss

During this incredible Annapurna circuit trek tour that lasts for 16-days, you traverse through isolated hamlets, mountain villages, lakes, Rhododendron forests, and beautiful stupas. The highest Annapurna circuit trek altitude is of 5,416 m (17,769 ft) at Thorung La pass. The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake is an extraordinary journey through some of the most diverse and stunning landscapes in the Himalayas. Flora and Fauna of the Annapurna Circuit

The Annapurna Conservation Area is the largest protected area in Nepal and is home to a diverse range of ecosystems, flora, and fauna.

Flora:

  • Subtropical Vegetation: The lower regions of the trek feature lush forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo, particularly around villages like Besi Sahar. In spring, the rhododendrons bloom in vibrant hues of red, pink, and white, creating a spectacular contrast with the surrounding mountains.

  • Arid Terrain: In areas like Manang and Thorong La, you'll encounter a dry, rocky desert-like landscape, typical of the Tibetan Plateau, with sparse vegetation like juniper and small bushes.

Fauna:

  • Himalayan Tahr: These large, wild goats are often seen grazing on the steep slopes.
  • Musk Deer: Elusive and shy, these endangered animals can be spotted in forested areas.
  • Snow Leopard (rare): While extremely rare, the snow leopard roams the higher altitudes of the Annapurna region.
  • Langur Monkeys: Playful and curious, these monkeys are often seen swinging through the trees in the lower regions.
  • Birdlife: The region is home to a variety of bird species, including the Himalayan Monal, Griffon Vultures, Golden Eagles, and Himalayan Snowcocks.

Highlights of the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake:

  • Tilicho Lake: Located at an altitude of 4,920m, this high-altitude glacial lake is one of the most striking natural wonders of the Himalayas. The trek to Tilicho Lake offers jaw-dropping views of Tilicho Peak, Annapurna, and Gangapurna.
  • Thorong La Pass: The highest point of the trek at 5,416m, Thorong La Pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Crossing the pass is challenging but immensely rewarding.
  • Cultural Experience: The trek passes through traditional Gurung and Magar villages, where you’ll experience the unique Himalayan culture, Buddhist monasteries, and traditional Tibetan settlements.

Black Peak (Kalanag) Expedition - 6387m

Black Peak Expedition Overview

Black Peak, also known as Kala Nag or Black Cobra, is the highest and most iconic mountain in the Bandarpunch (Saraswati) range in the Garhwal Himalayas. Standing tall at 6,387 meters (20,955 feet), it presents one of the most challenging climbs, requiring advanced climbing skills and high-altitude trekking experience. The unique shape of Black Peak resembling a cobra's head adds to its enigmatic allure, making it highly regarded among mountaineers seeking a thrilling adventure.

Black Peak has a rich history that dates back to the early 20th century when it was first attempted by British mountaineers. It was later successfully climbed by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) team in 1979. Since then, it has been a popular destination for mountaineers from around the world, attracting adventurers with its rugged terrain and breathtaking views.

According to local folklore, Black Peak holds a significant mythological significance in the region. It is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, one of the most revered gods in Hindu mythology. The peak is also believed to be guarded by the mountain deities who protect the surrounding area.

The expedition to Black Peak takes trekkers through the pristine landscapes of the Govind National Park. This national park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, offering a unique experience for nature lovers. The trail passes through alpine meadows, pine forests, moraine ridges, boulders, and glacial basins, showcasing breathtaking beauty at every turn. Trekkers will traverse crevassed snowfields, lush green meadows, glaciers, thick forests, scattered streams, and miles of rocky moraines, providing a diverse and captivating trekking experience.

The Black Peak expedition is not for the faint-hearted, as it offers a demanding terrain that requires advanced climbing skills and experience in high-altitude trekking. The steep ascents, perilous passages, and rugged terrain make it a challenging climb, pushing mountaineers to their limits. However, the sense of accomplishment upon conquering the summit of Black Peak is unparalleled, making it a highly rewarding adventure for seasoned mountaineers seeking to level up their skills.

Brahmatal Trek

A trek that has captured the hearts of beginner trekkers & winter trekking enthusiasts is the supremely beautiful Brahmatal Trek in Uttarakhand. Set amidst the Trishul range in Uttarakhand, the Brahmatal trek is a winter wonderland with magnificent close-up views of giant mountains surrounding the trail.

The breathtaking Brahmatal Lake!

Nestled in the deep heart of Uttarakhand is the gorgeous and extremely picturesque Brahmatal lake that can only be accessed through the Brahmatal trek. While the lake isn’t huge, it sits in the midst of a snow-carpeted meadow open on all sides with just one lone tree keeping it company. The lake is frozen through most seasons and is crystal clear when not iced up. While the lake is not directly on the trail, one would need to hike a little to come across this beauty. This is also close to one of the campsites on the trek. The lake remains unfrozen in spring and all through autumn and is good months to see the icy blue waters of the lake. Brahmatal is a name that is derived from Lord Brahma. The mythology mentions that Lord Brahma used to meditate on the Brahmatal lake. The lake is situated at an altitude of 3,400 m above sea level.

The Views from Brahmatal!

One of the many reasons we love the Brahmatal trek is because of the views of the giant mountains you find along the trail. While treks like Kedarkantha, Gorson Bugyal, Pangarchulla etc. give you great views of the Garhwal mountains, nothing comes close to what you see on the Brahmatal trail. While the Brahmatal trek starts from the Rhododendron forests, once you finish this climb, it opens up to a gigantic view of the wall of Mt. Trishul Massif (7,120 m/23,359 ft) that resembles a trident. Trust us when we say, you will be awestruck at the first glimpse. The views will get even bigger as you climb further up and you will also get a chance to see Mt. Nanda Ghunti (6309 m/20,698 ft). As you reach Brahmatal Top, you’ll also get up close to Mt. Neelkanth (6596 m/21,640 ft), and Mt. Hathi Ghoda (6729 m/22,070 ft). These views will definitely leave you wondering how minuscule we are amidst these giants.

The perfect winter trek!

Brahmatal trek best time to visit is the winter season. If you have an everlasting love for snow and winters, then this is one trek you must do. Considered to be one of the most popular winter treks in India, Brahmatal is a great trail for Nomads who are new to Himalayan trekking. This trek takes you through two Rhododendron and Oak forests, introduces you to two lakes – Brahmatal and Bekaltal Lakes shows off a gorgeous snow-carpeted meadow, and has campsites that look like a scene right out of Frozen! In peak winters the entire trail gets drenched in snow and you get to spend and camp for five days in a snowy wonderland. Brahmatal trek temperature in winter may range from -8°C to 5°C.

Great beginner trek with a Summit!

The Brahmatal trek covers the highest altitude of 3,733 m (12,250 ft) which is Brahmatal top. The overall brahmatal trek distance is of 30 Km which takes five days to complete. Brahmatal trek difficulty level is moderate. As the trek takes you through forests for most of the trail, the chances of getting Altitude Mountain Sickness is lesser here. The gradient of this trek is moderate which means that the climb is less steep as compared to Kedarkantha, however, the trek distance on each day will be longer. In the winters, you can expect to trek in knee-deep snow and experience snowfall every now and then. While you may require microspikes during the trek, there is no technical climb in this trek. While this is a beginner Himalayan trek, it is always recommended that you be physically fit when it comes to high-altitude treks.

Har Ki Dun Trek

Har Ki Dun Trek: The Doorway to Heaven in the Garhwal Himalayas

The Har Ki Dun Trek, one of the most sought-after treks in the Garhwal region of the Indian Himalayas, is a haven for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. Renowned for its picture-perfect campsites and breathtaking landscapes, this trek offers an experience that feels like stepping into a scene from Lord of the Rings.

Located at an altitude of 3,566 m (11,600 ft), Har Ki Dun, also known as the “Valley of Gods”, remains blanketed in snow from October to March, making it a winter trekking paradise. The valley’s lush meadows, sparkling streams, and stunning mountain vistas make it one of the best treks in the Western Himalayas.

Explore the Ancient Villages of Har Ki Dun

One of the unique highlights of the Har Ki Dun Trek is its connection to history and culture. The valley is home to villages over 3,000 years old, offering a cultural trekking experience that transports you back to simpler times. The trail takes you through remote Himalayan villages untouched by modern technology, where you can immerse yourself in a lifestyle that is deeply rooted in tradition.

The Story of Osla Village

Har Ki Dun translates to the "Valley of Lord Shiva" and is steeped in mythology. The village of Osla, located along the trail, is believed to have strong ties to the Mahabharata era. According to legend, the people of Osla were staunch devotees of Duryodhana, the eldest Kaurava. Their loyalty was so profound that they built a temple dedicated to him, which still stands today.

The village follows its own set of rules, operates independently with a local government, and even has a king who visits monthly. With around 250 houses and 600 inhabitants, Osla is an example of a self-sustained Himalayan village, where potato and wheat farming form the backbone of the community's livelihood.

Stay at a Homestay in Osla

Experience authentic Himalayan culture by staying at a homestay in Osla during your trek. These 2-day cultural immersions provide a rare opportunity to witness the simplicity and joy of life in this secluded village. Osla showcases how happiness thrives even with minimal resources, inspiring trekkers to find contentment in the little things.

Camping with Panoramic Mountain Views

Camping during the Har Ki Dun Trek is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The campsites are nestled amidst lush valleys with serene streams, offering unparalleled views of iconic Himalayan peaks such as Swargarohini I, II & III, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak. Waking up to these majestic sights is a dream for any trekker.

The valley is also believed to be the pathway that the Pandavas took to reach heaven via the Swargarohini peak, adding a spiritual element to this already stunning trail.

The Jaundhar Glacier: A Natural Wonder

No Himalayan trek is complete without exploring glaciers, and the Jaundhar Glacier is a true spectacle. Situated at an altitude of 4,300 m (14,107 ft), this glacier is a major source of the Tons River and lies close to the Swargarohini peak. The glacier’s awe-inspiring rock formations and ridge-lined terrain make it a must-visit highlight during your trek.

The Har Ki Dun trail that passes through Jaundhar Glacier features a mix of ridge-sand rubble, rocky terrains, and pristine snowfields, offering an adventurous challenge for trekkers.

Rich Flora and Fauna of the Mardi Himal and Annapurna Region

The Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp trek offers an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich biodiversity of the Himalayas. The route passes through a wide variety of ecosystems, each with its distinct flora and fauna, offering trekkers a deeper connection with nature.

Flora

The trek begins in the lower-altitude subtropical forests, which are filled with lush vegetation such as:

  • Rhododendron Forests: The lower regions are dominated by these magnificent trees, especially in spring when they bloom in vibrant shades of red, pink, and white. The rhododendron forests are a major highlight of the trek.
  • Bamboo Groves: As you ascend, you will come across dense bamboo forests that are an essential habitat for many animal species.
  • Oak and Pine Forests: Higher up, the trail takes you through oak and pine forests, providing a mix of dense woodlands and clearings where you can spot wildlife.
  • Alpine Meadows: Above the tree line, the landscape opens up to rolling alpine meadows, adorned with wildflowers during the summer season. These high-altitude meadows offer stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
  • Mountain Shrubs: At higher altitudes near the base camps, the terrain becomes more barren, with shrubs and hardy grasses that survive in the cold, dry conditions.

Fauna

While trekking through the Annapurna Conservation Area, you may encounter a variety of wildlife. The diversity of fauna ranges from mammals to birds and reptiles, making the trek a fascinating experience for nature lovers.

  • Himalayan Tahr: This large, wild goat is often spotted grazing on steep mountain slopes.
  • Musk Deer: These shy, elusive animals are native to the Himalayan region and can occasionally be seen in the higher elevations.
  • Langur Monkeys: Playful and often seen in the forested areas, these monkeys add a lively element to the trek.
  • Snow Leopard (rare): While sightings are extremely rare, the elusive snow leopard inhabits the high-altitude regions of the Annapurna range.
  • Birdlife: The trek is a birdwatcher's paradise, with a variety of species such as the Himalayan Monal (Nepal's national bird), various eagles, pheasants, and vultures soaring overhead.

The Trek Experience: A Journey for All Ages

One of the best things about the Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp trek is its accessibility to trekkers of all ages. While it covers significant altitude and offers some physical challenges, the moderate difficulty level ensures that even first-time trekkers and families can enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed.

  • Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m): This relatively new trekking route offers a peaceful alternative to the more crowded Annapurna Base Camp trail. The journey to Mardi Himal Base Camp takes trekkers through quiet forests and ridges, eventually opening up to spectacular views of Machapuchare (Fishtail Mountain), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.

  • Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m): The trek to ABC is more well-known, offering classic Himalayan trekking experiences with a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion. As you approach Annapurna Base Camp, the towering snow-clad peaks of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Gangapurna surround you, creating one of the most iconic mountain panoramas in the world.

Why This Trek is Perfect for All Ages:

  1. Moderate Difficulty: The trek features a moderate gradient and well-maintained trails, making it accessible for younger trekkers and families, as well as older trekkers looking for a manageable adventure in the Himalayas.

  2. Flexible Itinerary: With multiple stopping points, the itinerary can be adjusted to suit the pace and preferences of the group. There are plenty of rest days and shorter trekking distances, ensuring that all participants can trek comfortably.

  3. Cultural Experience: The trek also offers cultural insights as it passes through traditional Gurung and Magar villages, allowing trekkers to interact with local communities and experience Himalayan hospitality.

  4. Natural Hot Springs: After a long trek, one of the highlights is a dip in the natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda, a welcome respite for tired muscles and a chance to unwind.

  5. Panoramic Views: The trek offers some of the most stunning and unobstructed views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, making it a photographer's dream.

Mt Fansipan - Sapa - Ha Long Bay

FANSIPAN

Mount Fansipan (Phang Xi Pang) is the highest peak in Vietnam, towering above the Hoang Lien Son Mountain range in the far north of the country. The hike will take you through misty bamboo forests and over golden rice terraces, all the way up and above the clouds. The height of the mountain was 3,143 metres (10,312 ft) in 1909, but now the height of the mountain is 3,147.3 metres (10,326 ft). Standing tall at 3,147 m it is the highest peak in Indochina. Once upon reaching the summit we will descend using the cable car. Fansipan Legend is said to be the highest and longest suspended cable system in the world. The whole ride takes about 30 minutes. You will enjoy spectacular views over the Sapa valley and rice terraces!

SAPA

Sa Pa is a town in the Hoàng Liên Son Mountains of northwestern Vietnam. A popular trekking base, it overlooks the terraced rice fields of the Muong Hoa Valley and is near the 3,147 m-tall Fansipan peak, which is climbable via a steep, multiday guided walk. Hill tribes, such as the Hmong, Tay, and Dao, make up much of the town’s local population. Sapa is a small market town that has been a gathering spot for many local hill tribes for nearly 200 years. Hmong and Dao people, among others, still come here to conduct trade, socialize, and attend an ephemeral “love market,” where young men and women choose one another for marriage (these days, it’s unlikely you’ll see anything more than a staged re-creation of it). The rice terraces around our Hmong Mountain Retreat are standing tall and healthy emerald, green. The local Black Hmong people in Lao Cai are resting, getting ready for the perfect time to harvest the rice.

HA LONG BAY

Hạ Long Bay, in northeast Vietnam, is known for its emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests. Junk boat tours and sea kayak expeditions take visitors past islands named for their shapes, including Stone Dog and Teapot islets. The region is popular for scuba diving, rock climbing and hiking, particularly in mountainous Cát Bà National Park.

Trek across a dramatic gorge with frozen waterfalls on the frozen trail of Zanskar, spanned out like a "Chadar" acting as a mirror for the sky.

Explore the Enchanting Town of Leh

There are numerous interesting places and monasteries to visit in and around Leh, such as Shanti Stupa, The Leh Palace, the monasteries of Shey, Hemis, Alchi, Thiksey, and Lamayuru, the Armed Forces Hall of Fame, and much more!

Tarsar Marsar Lakes Trek [Premium]

Secure your registration with the Early Bird Offer valid until December 31, 2024. Make just a 20% deposit today and pay the remainder 30 days before your departure date. Your journey awaits! ✈️

Tarsar Lake or Tar Sar, shaped like an almond, is an oligotrophic (low in algal production due to low primary productivity, but with quality of drinking water) and an alpine lake situated in Aru in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is surrounded by meadows dotted with conifer trees, mountains and gorgeous views of snowcapped peaks. It is separated from its sister lake, Marsar, by a mountain with a peak elevation of 4000 meters.

An interesting fact about the Tarsar Marsar Trek is that this lake changes its colours throughout the day, depending on the sun’s angle during sunrise & sunset between Turquoise green and many shades of blue. The lake can only be visited during the summer, which is great because you get to spot a variety of birds like black bulbul, bar-headed geese, high-flying coughs and Himalayan golden eagles.

The Marsar Lake is an oligotrophic alpine lake located in the Tral valley of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. In local parlance, Marsar is a lake that kills (mar: kill, sar: lake). Marsar Lake has a hidden and mysterious feel because it is always covered by clouds and feels like a closely-kept secret. Another myth that the local villagers talk about is that if one pollutes the water of these pristine lakes, it is most likely to cause a torrential downpour.

The 16th-century Kashmiri ruler Yusuf Shah Chak mentioned the twin lakes in his poetry, writing to his beloved:
"When I remember the two tresses of the comely beloved, Tears begin to flow from my eyes like streams from Tarsar and Marsar."

Trek to Dronagiri aka Sanjeevani Parvat [Premium]

Trek to Dronagiri AKA Sanjeevani Parvat

Trek to one of the most beautiful and unexplored places, famously known as the Sanjeevani Parvat - Dronagiri!

Dronagiri, 3,658m (12,000ft) – is one of those little and ancient villages with a mere population of 70-80 people and just one satellite phone. Far away from the digital world and its advances, this village is very close to mother nature. Dronagiri is the only peak which has lent its name to a village in the vicinity or in India for a matter of fact. Dronagiri also happens to be the same mountain that Lord Hanuman lifted to save Lord Laxman in the Indian mythology, Ramayana. Interesting facts about the mountain, do not end here. A popular belief among the locals in Dronagiri is that Lord Hanuman, while taking the Sanjeevani mountain with him, accidentally broke the arm of the local deity there. This is the reason why Lord Hanuman is not worshipped in Dronagiri village.

Trek to Savandurga Hill

Savandurga hill is considered to be among the largest monolith hills in Asia. Named Savandurga by Immadi Kempe Gauda, this hill fortress was believed to be unconquerable until the British took over in 1791; Lord Cornwallis has written a detailed account of its capture.

The hill looks imposing as one drives closer to it and it is easy to understand why it is called the ‘rock of death.’ The Nandi mantap looks like a small square on top and all visible sides of the rock look steep and dangerous; only upon reaching the base does one see the rock’s gentle slopes.

Another thing that pulls Nomads to trek to Kedarkantha peak is the deep-rooted mythology that makes this trek extremely mysterious and revered. Kedarkantha is also called "Kedar Khand" which loosely translates to "Section of Lord Shiva", which also happens to be a historic name in the local community. The meaning of Kedarkantha however, is Throat of Lord Shiva. The mythology is that Kedarkantha was where Lord Shiva used to meditate before moving to Kedarnath.

The very famous and beautiful Juda Ka Talab is where the water droplets fallen from Kord Shiva's hair turned into a small pond. The sighting the revered and sacred Swargarohini peak is one of the rewarding attractions of the trek. Swargarohini translates to "Stairway to Heaven" and is the same peak where the Yudhishthira, the eldest of the Pandavas along with his dog reached heaven from this godly peak.
